1. юрОсвобождение осужденных из исправительного учреждения до окончания срока наказания под честное слово. Решение об этом принимает совет по условно-досрочному освобождению [parole board], если он сочтет, что осужденный проявил себя в заключении дисциплинированным и психологически готов к возвращению в общество. Обычно условно-досрочно освобожденный [parolee] должен соблюдать на свободе определенные административные правила, ограничен в передвижении, обязан устроиться на работу и регулярно отчитываться перед специальным полицейским надзирателем [ parole officer]. Впервые такая практика была введена в некоторых штатах в 90-е гг. XIX в.
